About
I picked up pipe smoking after me and my parents established what we called "Gentleman's Night". Basically,
I had for some reason grown an interest in smoking cigars. We would all go out and smoke once a month (well,
often just me and my dad), and eventually we decided that we should also try pipes.
Now, don't get me wrong; I like a good cigar. But the pipe captivated me; the ritual of loading it up, packing
it jussst right, getting a good light, and keeping it going with a good rhythm was absolutely magical to me.
The intricate and distinct flavors found in the available tobaccos compared to the relatively similar taste among
cigars is what got me hooked, I think. The unflavored tobaccos alone have so much variety, and I can tell the
difference between each one. I honestly can't say I remember a single name of any cigar company/particular cigar
variety, as they all just kinda blended in to me.
With pipe tobacco, like I said, everything is distinguishable. Aromatic blends open up an entirely different door,
leading one down the path of delightfully sweetened leaf. The best part about them is that you don't end up smelling
like cigarettes. The scent of those is actually quite pleasing, in general, and not a smell I mind having on my clothing.
And so, here we are. I try to smoke my pipe at least once a day. I find it stress-relieving, and an excellent method of
escaping the sometimes cruel world we live in for a little bit. Lighting up and being one with nature. Not the healthiest
habit, but I enjoy it!
